Ardra means wetness. Though the rains are said to begin when Sun enters ‘Mruga’ Nakshatra, the rains actually start in full swing when Sun enters ‘Ardra’ Nakshatra. Ardra also get associated with a tear drop, which can symbolize both sorrow and renewal.

Ardra Nakshatra Star is Gamma Geminorium, which is bright and red in color. It can be seen in the sky at night in the months of Kartik, Margashirsh or Paush. Ardra is located entirely within the sign of Gemini. The Lord of Ardra Nakshatra is ‘Rahu’. The diety of Ardra Nakshatra is Rudra, Lord Shiva.
